Bespoke cycling holidays in France and Spain
|
In August 2006 I arranged a 5 day bicycle trip in the French Pyrenees for my wife
and myself, our 3 children aged 27, 25, and 18, plus our daughter’s fiancé – it was absolutely
fabulous. Velo Loco arranged a special itinerary for us after we had discussed our requirements –
they provided bikes, arranged the accommodation, transported our luggage between hotels, and then
left us to enjoy the holiday. Most of the cycling was on routes used by The Tour de France, climbing
over typically two cols per day. It was quite superb to feel some closeness to the great Tour, and to
stop at the cafes on the cols with the satisfaction of knowing that we had cycled there ourselves. For
the last day and a half we left the routes of The Tour and headed out into the farming area of the
lower slopes of the Pyrenees – this was also a fascinating part of our trip, especially when we came
across the main street of a village closed off for the weekly market day, and joined in the general
festivities.
Velo Loco did a great job – the bikes were great, the route was great, the food
was great, and the cycling was great. One of the great delights was finding what quaint and/or
charming pension we had been booked in to each night – they were all excellent. Velo Loco provided
all the support required, and yet we felt we were enjoying our own adventure. The Logie Family Bicycle Ride

It was great to spend a week doing something as a family that gave us such a sense
of achievement. We’re not especially sporty but we easily managed to cycle 20 or even 30 kms day.
David and Sam couldn't have been more helpful in completely tailoring the trip to suit us. So we
avoided the hassle of organizing everything, but it still felt as though we we’re traveling
independently and experiencing the real France. The Good Family - Sarah, Iain, Jess (11) and Milly (7)

On a recent trip with friends to the south of france i hired some bikes from
velo loco and couldn't have been happier with the friendliness and wonderful care that was taken
to make sure we had a wonderful trip. we hired several adult bikes and a childs tag-along bike which
were delivered by david and adjusted to accomodate our groups specific needs. Being able to hire
bikes in france from the u.s. via the internet and being so wonderfully suprised by the
incredible service was amazing. I recommend velo loco to anybody who asks about bike hires in
france. Looking foreward to my next adventure with sam & david at velo loco!!! - Jen, USA

So our adventure is now barely a distant memory but I thought that I'd write to let
you know that we made the entire trip without any mishap; not even a puncture in 2 bikes that each did
1300 km, that's kevlar for you. Left you and ascended through the mist and over the cols before a
picturesque descent into Vicdessous for a second breakfast (banana bread came to the fore). After
that it was pretty plain sailing over to the Languedoc with stops at Mirepoix and Cabezac (fantastic
hotel). Met up with the remainder of the family and enjoyed 2 weeks of sunshine. Thank you so much for
your warm welcome and hospitality in your home. I would also thank you, Dave, for the new chain which
cleared up the slipping. Hope that your business is a great success and look forward to seeing you again
sometime. With best regards, Stephen, UK

When I cycled with David, it was perfect for me because, although only 15
years old, I have done quite alot of mountain biking and my parents couldn't keep up with me. So they
found David at VeloLoco to take me on a 3 hour trail. It was awesome. Great scenery, great trail,
David knew the area well, goes as fast (or slow) as you want, is interesting to talk to and made
my parents feel I was safe! Highly recommended. Charlie, UK

We are a family of 5 , parents and 3 grown up children ages 18-25. We were
looking for a way to see France by bike with our kids , but not as part of
an organized trip. David and Samantha at Veloloco put together a 6 day
trip for us to bike through thre Pyrenees that was perfect. They provided all
the planning, made the reservations, provided the bikes, and moved our
luggage. We rode through the most beautiful countryside on a
route that David provided that kept us off busy roads, stayed at some
lovely small inns , B&B's, and hotels, ate wonderful food and had good
wine each night. The bikes ,the planning, route selection,
all were tailored to exactly what we wanted and allowed our family to have one
of best vacations we have taken at a price we could afford. Jerry Rosen, Martha, Sarah, Alex , Nathan, USA
