Simple: Help with reservations from campsites to chateaux
|
Accommodation Services |
The cyclist in France or Spain has a wide variety of accommodation options to choose from - take a look at the list below!
Hotels are just one of many different options available to a travelling cyclist. To use our reservation service, simply let us know the type
of accommodation you prefer and let us make bike friendly suggestions for your tour.
If you've already decided
where you'd like to stay, we can build a cycling holiday around your choices. Why not mix and match
accommodation, perhaps staying somewhere special for a night at the end of a trip. As all our trips are created
from scratch, mixing accommodation types is an option many clients appreciate.
VeloLoco offers two booking options:
|
Campsites in France |
The French take camping seriously! Sites range in both size and services, in the Pyrenees they are often small with
restricted facilities, but by the Mediterrannean Sea they are enormous with static caravans,
chalets as well as pitches for tents and full entertainment organised for the holidaymaker. A typical 3star campsite offers good value
with showers and washrooms, small campsite shop and communal games room. There is often a secure room for safe bike storage.
|
Gite d'Etape / Gite de Sejour |
For simple bike friendly accommodation, walkers and cyclists on a budget are welcomed at Gite d'Etape and Gite de Sejour. Here you often share sleeping accommodation with
fellow travellers in dormitory style rooms and pay per person per night. Overnight stops are taken in Gite d'Etapes and stays of one week or more are
typically taken at the larger Gite de Sejours. Both are similar to hostels (Auberge de Jeunesse), but there is no membership pre-requisite and usually no curfew.
|
Bed and Breakfast / Chambre d'Hotes / Casa Rurales |
Chambre d'Hotes in France (and casa rurales in Spain) are equivalent to bed and breakfast
accommodation. They are often of very high quality and there is an increasing trend for cyclists and tourists alike to choose to stay in
a chambre d'hote over a hotel. Staying with the owners is a great way to immerse yourself in the culture and practice
french or spanish!
|
Bike Friendly Auberges and Hotels |
By far the most popular option for cyclists. Hotels range from small family run auberges with great home-cooked food
to global chain hotels. We select bike hotels based on their ability to accommodate the specific needs of cyclists. En-suite facilities are becoming standard features of most 2star hotels (though it is still often the case
in rural areas you may share a bathroom with other guests when staying in smaller hotels). Hotels with swimming pools, and gourmet restaurants can
be booked on a Veloloco tour.
|
Chateaux |
The most well-known chain outside France of chateau hotels is Relais Chateaux. However, there are many other
chateaux hotels in France, and services are often equally luxurious. If you want to stay somewhere special during your
tour, just let us know !
