Puerto Ibaneta / Col d'Arnosteguy 1057m

Introduction

From St. Jean Pied de Port the first few kilometers are along a flat river valley to the once important border crossing at Arneguy. Any traffic along the valley seeks cheap Spanish fuel at Arneguy - only pilgrims folowing the Santiago de Compostella trail and tourists heading for the religious centre at Roncevilles continue up the col d'Arnosteguy.
